Last year, I started a series on Mingledorff‘s after following their content after meeting their team in person at one of their Atlanta locations.
I started the series because I follow the Mingledorff’s podcast – Caffeine and Coils hosted by Jenny Brown and Deanna Lassiter. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/caffeine-and-coils/id1701491521
This podcast was started at the end of 2023 and uniquely covers the HVACR distribution business. The Mingledorff’s team reaching and communicating with end customers, manufacturers, and their fellow associates with a fun and informative podcast.
Caffeine and Coils is one of the few HVACR podcasts put on by a distributor and the quality of the podcast is impressive.
For this update I wanted to share some of their recent episodes and also highlight additional work in the channel. I am very impressed that every 2 weeks – the Mingledorff’s team always release a new episode. The team is approaching a milestone 50th episode very soon.
So, how is it going….
Since our last update ago the Mingledorff’s team have added episodes on:
-
The Power of Mentorship in HVAC – had as a guest Michael Hopkins, a seasoned HVAC professional, and his journey in the industry, the essential skills for technicians, and the importance of mentorship. Michael talked about the HVAC field, ongoing education and certifications, and the significance of trade schools.
-
CAAG: Uniting Georgia’s HVAC Professionals – Specific podcast on an important trade group in Georgia for HVAC professionals.
-
Balancing the Load: Leadership, Life & Lessons in HVAC- I really enjoyed listening to Anna Smith of Hero Heating and Air as she shared in an entertaining way how she started in applied economics and somehow made her way to HVAC entrepreneurship. Whether or not you are in HVAC this is worth listening to as it has alot of practical business advice
-
Personality at Work: Tests That Build Better Teams – Deanna and Jenny dove into key personality tests DISC, Myers Briggs, and more and how it can help you build better teams and improve communication. If you have taken a work personality test this episode is a fun listen.
- Tier Talk: Carrier & Bryant Dealers Theo, the director of Marketing at Mingledorff’s, outlines the benefits and steps to become a Factory Authorized Dealer. There are three dealer tiers: Standard, Partner, and Factory Authorized, each offering unique incentives like co-op funds and financing promotions.
- Effective Marketing Tactics for HVAC Pros – On this episode Michelle from All Contractor Marketing highlights the challenges HVAC contractors face, including budget constraints and the need for targeted marketing.
-
Unlocking Business Growth in the HVAC Industry – Guest Gary Turner joins the show to discuss Business Growth strategies in the HVAC Industry.
The Mingledorff Caffeine and Coils Podcast keeps growing and evolving. The podcast has good mix of information and entertainment, which is crucial for any podcast as they can’t be boring, or they won’t be effective.
So, why is it important?
- End Customers – How many times do you get the undivided attention of an end customer for 20 minutes? That is true brand building and provides value to Mingledorff customers.
- New and current associates – It is one more proof point that Mingledorff’s is investing in their team.
- Mingledorff’s manufacturer partners can see that the company is trying new things and is committed to their associates and end customers.
- Fun and authenticity – I think this is underrated by many people, but when you listen to these podcasts you get to know Jenny and Deanna and the broader Mingledorff’s team. You get to know their personalities and build a virtual relationship with the team. It’s apparent that the podcast reflects Mingledorff’s culture and who they are in a good mix of fun and information. It is well produced but not overproduced….it is authentic and breaks through for me personally.
The HVACR Channel is evolving in how people consume information. Mingledorff’s understands they can have a podcast that augments their Lunch and Learns, in person training, phone calls, and in person interactions that delivers value.
In our first two articles of this series, I wrote the value of the podcast to just associates alone was worth the effort as it shows their co-workers that Mingledorff’s is trying new approaches.
Your end customer is consuming the information they need from you in new ways, and so are your associates. This podcast is strong brand building for the company and fills a need in the market.
