Market updates from William Blair, HARDI and HVACR Trends

As I was working on writing a column for the thanksgiving break a couple of items caught my eye that I thought would be fun to share this week.

Finding good data sources and programs for the HVACR Channel can sometimes be like a scavenger hunt, so this week I thought I would share some tidbits that could save you some search time.

The 1st update is from William Blair Equity Research

“HARDI October Beats Expectations – Viewpoint. HARDI average same-day October sales were up 4% year-over-year—above our expectations for 1%-3% growth. Weather was warmer than usual, which may have led to a slightly extended cooling season. We heard that R-410A pre-buy by contractors may have helped sales.” Source William Blair Equity Research Nov. 26, 2024. I would encourage you to follow their work as they add comments and outlook that is helpful. This group obviously follows and reports on the work that the  HARDI Market Intelligence team provides the channel. I would recommend if you are a HARDI member to follow the great work that the HARDI team does for the channel. Link to HARDI Market Intelligence page Market Analysis

Speaking of HARDI they are hosting a rather large event in Atlanta

HARDI 2024 Annual Conference – December 7-10 in Atlanta

The big event for the channel is next week and in looking at the details it already has 1,890 attendees (as of Nov. 27th) signed up for the event. The whos-who of distributors, manufacturers, and service providers will be at this event and this years agenda looks very interesting.

There are 4 education tracks to choose from to attend – Organizational Development, External Impacts, Business Growth, and Personal Advancement. There is ample time set aside for booth programs with manufacturers and distributors to meet and conduct business and to see the programs from the HARDI Solutions Center providers. MDM Profitability Virtual Summit December 4th

This is free virtual summit on profitability that if you can’t attend virtually by signing up for it you can view the recorded sessions on your schedule. It has HARDI members presenting and also the team at ACTvantage – Analytics Tools & Training for Distribution Industry.  ACTvantage partners with HARDI to deliver the Inventory and Pricing Certification programs for HARDI presenting. I am biased of course as I write for MDM regularly. The MDM virtual programs always deliver value. MDM writes about many B2B Channels and this virtual summit has a good mix of distributors from many channels to watch that should deliver insights that might work for you in 2025.

Have a great holiday break and as always please feel free to reach out with any comments or feedback.
