Refrigeration Technologies’ Viper EZDose

Viper EZDose

By now you should have heard that Refrigeration Technologies, the Southern California-based manufacturer behind the Viper® line of non-toxic HVACR chemical solutions, recently introduced the Viper EZDose™, a gravity-fed pan and drain line maintenance system designed to help HVAC contractors prevent condensate drain clogs before they become water damage, odor complaints and costly callbacks.

Another New Product! What Does it Mean to a Distributor … How Will it Turn into Sales?

As a distributor you are probably thinking, “okay, another new manufacturer product.”

We reached out to Mike Pastorello, president and CEO of Refrigeration Technologies, and asked two questions that should answer why and how this can help distributors drive sales.

  1. What the EZDose launch means for distributors?
    • “EZDose gives distributors a protected, contractor-only product with built-in refill revenue and a clean attachment point for PM agreements – no app, wiring or batteries means fewer callbacks and less counter-team hesitation to sell it.”
  2. How should distributors promote EZDose to contractor customers?
    • “Position EZDose as a callback-prevention and maintenance-revenue tool rather than a drain cleaner, leaning on “no power, no app, no wires, no problem” and its distribution-only status to reassure contractors it won’t turn up cheaper at a big box store.”

About EZDose

Viper EZDose“EZDose came out of a simple frustration — the same problem kept showing up on the same units, and the existing solutions weren’t solving it,” said Robert Kraft, inventor of EZDose and a 36-year HVAC industry veteran whose field-born innovation came to life through Refrigeration Technologies’ outside inventor program. “Tablets and strips sit in one spot. They don’t get to the whole pan, and they don’t protect the drain line. We built EZDose to actually do the job properly.”

Clogged condensate drain lines account for up to 90% of water-related AC service calls, according to HVAC industry data; and most of them are preventable. A typical residential HVAC system can pull up to 20 gallons of water per day from the air. When that water has nowhere to go, water backs up, pans overflow and damage to ceilings, walls and floors follows.

Unlike other solutions that either sit passively in one spot or rely on automated technology prone to failure, EZDose uses a gravity-fed reservoir valve, fittings and routed tubing to deliver Viper Pan & Drain Treatment directly into the evaporator drain pan at multiple points, so every area of the pan is covered, not just one spot. The result is even distribution across the entire surface where slime, mildew, sludge and Zooglea are most likely to form. The system installs in minutes and requires no power, batteries, wiring, app or motor to malfunction or troubleshoot; just a simple product that does the job right.

Refrigeration Technologies Viper EZDoseOnce installed, technicians fill the 32 oz. magnetic reservoir with Viper Pan & Drain Treatment, a non-corrosive, biodegradable gel formulated with detergents, enzymes and silicone. The enzymes break down existing buildup, while the silicone coats the pan, p-trap and drain piping to improve flow and prevent future growth from adhering. Maintenance is straightforward: 8 oz. every three months for standard upkeep, or 4 oz monthly for problem drain lines. The reservoir mounts directly to the unit via built-in magnets or to a nearby surface using included drywall anchors.

For contractors operating preventative maintenance agreements, EZDose provides a repeatable, visible drain treatment process that reinforces service value and helps eliminate the callbacks that quietly erode profitability.

“This is exactly the kind of product Refrigeration Technologies was built to make,” said Mike Pastorello, president and CEO of Refrigeration Technologies. “It solves a real field problem, it installs without complexity, and it uses chemistry that won’t harm the equipment for the people working on it. For contractors running maintenance agreements, EZDose gives them something tangible to point to every single visit.”
